About Us
What is OUPEC?
The Ontario Undergraduate Psychology Exchange Conference (OUPEC) is Ontario’s first province-wide academic conference dedicated exclusively to undergraduate psychology students.

Hosted by the Undergraduate Psychology Society at the University of Waterloo, OUPEC brings together students from universities across the province to present research, explore academic and professional pathways, and build meaningful cross-campus connections.
OUPEC is a shared space for scholarship, dialogue, and collaboration, designed to strengthen the undergraduate psychology community across Ontario.

Ontario's first province-wide undergraduate psychology conference.
Vision
To establish a province wide undergraduate psychology network that removes invisible walls between institutions and elevates the collective academic excellence and intellectual contribution of undergraduate students across Ontario.

Mission
OUPEC connects undergraduate psychology students across Ontario through a province-wide platform for research presentation, academic dialogue, professional
exploration, and cross-campus networking.

We create structured opportunities for knowledge exchange, career insight, and meaningful connection within the field of psychology.

OUR VALUES
The principles that guide everything we build.
Community
We value strong, cross-university relationships within Ontario’s undergraduate psychology network.
Networking & Mentorship
We create intentional spaces for meaningful peer and professional connection.
Knowledge Exchange
We prioritize the open sharing of research, ideas, and academic inquiry.
Diversity & Inclusion
We recognize and elevate diverse cultural, academic, and lived experiences within psychology.
Collaboration
We encourage partnership over competition across campuses, disciplines, and perspectives.
Student Empowerment
We believe undergraduate voices deserve visibility, credibility, and opportunity.
Academic & Professional Development
We support students in navigating research opportunities, undergraduate and graduate studies, and diverse psychology careers.
Accessibility
We are committed to reducing barriers to participation and fostering an open, welcoming environment.
BRAND POSITION
What makes OUPEC unlike anything else.
A Provincial Intellectual Collective
I
The first unified platform connecting undergraduate psychology communities across Ontario into a single collaborative network — eliminating the isolation of campus-by-campus academic silos.
A Knowledge Exchange Hub
II
An academic stage where undergraduate research is central — not supplementary. With 250+ presentations from 10+ universities, OUPEC is the largest undergraduate psychology research forum in the province.
A Career & Academic Launchpad
III
A space where students gain clarity on postgraduate pathways, research trajectories, and the full range of careers a psychology degree can unlock — from someone who's actually been through it.
A Catalyst for Belonging
IV
A direct counter to the isolation felt in large university programs — transforming disconnected campuses into a shared, supportive provincial network where students find their people.
A Champion of Diversity & Representation
V
A platform that actively amplifies cross-cultural research, lived experiences, and underrepresented voices — because psychology is stronger when diverse perspectives are present at the table.
A Student-Led Innovation Movement
VI
Built entirely by students, for students. OUPEC is proof of what undergraduates can create when given trust, responsibility, and a room of their own.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The beliefs we return to in every decision.
Remove Invisible Walls
Universities should not function as isolated academic islands. OUPEC bridges institutions to create a connected provincial network where ideas travel freely across campuses.
Exposure Expands Opportunity
Access to graduate insights, career pathways, and professional voices empowers informed decision-making. Students deserve honest answers, not generic advice.
Connection Builds Confidence
Peer interaction across institutions strengthens academic identity and a sense of belonging. Finding your people changes how you show up in your field.
Undergraduate Research Matters
Undergraduate scholarship deserves serious platforms, thoughtful dialogue, and academic recognition. The work being done before grad school is already worth celebrating.
Representation Strengthens Science
Psychology is stronger when diverse identities, cultures, and methodologies are present at the table. Inclusion is not a programme —
it is a prerequisite.
Learning Extends Beyond the Classroom
Education includes conversation, presentation, mentorship, and collaboration. The most important things you learn in university often happen outside of it.
